​   The Attham rocking chair reimagines Kerala’s regional forms, and fuses these with modern construction methods, materials and aesthetics. The chair merges gentles movements of a rocking chair, comfort of a lounge chair and ergonomics to redefine a stagnant furniture typology, the platform rockers.

   The chair was designed to ensure that it adhered to the principles of repairability. The individual components of the seat, backrest, and their support frames are assembled without the use of any permanent joinery or glues allowing any damaged component to be easily replaced or repaired.

 

   Aligning with the maxim ‘prevention is better than repair’, the base of the chair is designed for longevity, using traditional joinery enabling it to withstand the maximum wear and tear. The upholstery of the chair is also manufactured with simple techniques allowing users to easily replace and personalize their product. These decisions make Attham a sustainable & durable product, cherished by the user.
