Tessi is an open-ended toy made using vegetable tanned leather as the primary material. The toy works by utilising principles of tessellations, hence the name. The robust yet flexible quality of leather allows the product to be folded, opened and refolded multiple times while maintaining a rigid form and a long-lasting toy.
We are surrounded by a toy market dominated by plastic products, churning out gender specific toys, and over-saturated by pop culture references. Tessi is a breath of fresh air in this scenario. It is gender neutral in its very nature of being open-ended. It enhances creativity and new ideas by encouraging children to explore, experiment and create. While the size, form and material of most toys demand elaborate packaging, Tessi can easily be collapsed flat into a smaller package.
